Calcium Carbonate
Calcium Carbonate (Calcite - CaCO3) is one of the most widely used raw materials on earth. It is one of the main ingredients used for the production of cement. The global production of cement is about 2 billion tonnes per annum.
The Australian cement industry production is approximately 9 million tonnes per annum.
The price of Calcium Carbonate varies depending on the quality (purity) of the product.
GSA's Calcium content is 99% purity.
Major industry uses include:-Paper – approx 35 million tonnes per annum;
Plastics – 60% by weight volume in fillers and reinforcements;
Coatings – the main extender to these products with good weather resistance and anti-corrosive properties;
Environment – flue gas desulphurisation, drinking water treatment, waste water treatment and forest and lake liming for neutralisation of acid rain;
Agriculture – for use in fertilizers and animal feed compounds; and
Others – Glass, ceramics, cleaning products, food stuffs, and pharmaceuticals.
