Calcium Carbonate

Calcium Carbonate (Calcite - CaCO3) is one of the most widely used raw materials on earth. It is one of the main ingredients used for the production of cement. The global production of cement is about 2 billion tonnes per annum.

The Australian cement industry production is approximately 9 million tonnes per annum.

The price of Calcium Carbonate varies depending on the quality (purity) of the product.

GSA's Calcium content is 99% purity.

Major industry uses include:-
  • Paper – approx 35 million tonnes per annum;

  • Plastics – 60% by weight volume in fillers and reinforcements;

  • Coatings – the main extender to these products with good weather resistance and anti-corrosive properties;

  • Environment – flue gas desulphurisation, drinking water treatment, waste water treatment and forest and lake liming for neutralisation of acid rain;

  • Agriculture – for use in fertilizers and animal feed compounds; and
